    Suspect Barricaded In Canyon Country Surrenders

    The Santa Clarita Sheriff's Department entered into a standoff in Canyon Country Thursday Night.

     

     

    A standoff lasting nearly six hours in 19000 block of San Marino Court ended without incident early Friday morning when the suspect surrendered to deputies.  The incident began at approximately 7:23 p.m. when deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station spotted a suspect who was wanted on domestic assault and criminal threat related charges. 

    Lockheed Player of the Week - Nicholas Green

     Nicholas Green, a Saugus Senior Linebacker, had nine tackles, including four sacks, Friday night in the Saugus High victory over Valencia High, 34-19.  Green was an integral part of Saugus’ win over Valencia.

    PTA Urges Parents To Communicate With Children

    Post disaster, children may become depressed

    While the smoke and the fires may have cleared it’s likely that the effects of this week’s local emergency will linger with our youngest residents.  Whether or not children were subjected to evacuations or damage to their homes they have been exposed to the presence and smell of smoke, media coverage of the event, and probably discussions among adults about the event.  These experiences could have a lasting effect on kids.

    SCV Football Will Be Played This Weekend

    High School & College of the Canyons Football are on for this weekend.

     

    As of early Friday morning, decisions have been made to proceed with all local High School and the COC Football games.

     

    The college and high schools have decided to play, barring any major air quality issues. KHTS shall broadcast the Valencia - Hart game tonight with the pre-game starting at 7:00pm. KHTS will rebroadcast the Saugus - Golden Valley game on Saturday at 10am.

     

    Mayor Speaks On Fires

    "As our communities begin the task of getting our homes and our lives back to some semblance of normalcy, I know that for many of you, the road to recovery will be a long one.  Some of our residents lost their homes or suffered some damage to their homes or property as a result of the Buckweed Fire and Ranch fires. 

     

    Buckweed Burnout May Cause Smoke

    Fire department will burn interior sections of Buckweed fire, and residents may see some smoke.

     

    At 1:30 p.m., KHTS received word from the LA County Fire Department that they will burn the interior sections of the Buckweed fire, as a precautionary measure. 

     

    The fire may cause some smoke, but there is no need to be alarmed. 

    Kings Defeat Stars

    The Los Angeles Kings defeated the Dallas Stars, 2-1, on Thursday night.
    The Kings take on the Columbus Blue Jackets on Halloween, October 31, at 7pm on AM1220 KHTS.
