    SCV Mayor Gets Honorary Mention For Climate Protection

    Walmart joins U.S. Conference of Mayors to honor 2007 Mayor's Climate Protection Award Winners.

     Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT), in a joint sponsorship with the U.S. Conference of Mayors, announced the winners of the 2007 Mayors’ Climate Protection Awards. The inaugural awards recognize and honor mayors for their exceptional efforts to increase energy efficiency in their cities and help mitigate climate change. Receiving the first place honors were Mayors Martin Chavez of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Dan Coody of Fayetteville, Arkansas .

    "At risk" teens participate in character building program.

    Established in February 2006 in the City of Santa Clarita, the VIDA Program or Vital Intervention and Directional Alternatives, is a 16-week program designed to assist "at-risk" youth between the ages of 12 and 17 by redirecting negative behavior into positive alternatives.

    I-5 Interchange Construction Update

    Contruction continues on Magic Mountain Parkway/I-5 Interchange.

    The construction of the storm drain box is over 80 percent complete. The general contractor, Security Paving Construction, is continuing constructing the box culvert, which crosses underneath Magic Mountain Parkway west of The Old Road. Please allow extra time when traveling through the area during peak park hours.  It is anticipated that construction of the box culvert will last another six to eight weeks.
