    Youth in Government Luncheon

    Youth in Government Culmination Luncheon- Tuesday, July 10, 2007

    The City of Santa Clarita and Mayor Marsha McLean will celebrate participants of the Youth in Government Program at the Youth in Government Culmination Luncheon on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Activities Center, located at 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway.

    Fire In Agua Dulce Is Out

    UPDATE: Agua Dulce Fire gobbles up 815 acres before getting extinguished

     

    At around 6:00pm Sunday evening, firefighters finally called knockdown on a massive blaze that tortured Agua Dulce residents over the course of the weekend.

     

    Nearly 40 homes were evacuated along Agua Dulce Canyon Road, as well as Vasquez Rocks Park.  The evacuations lasted only a few hours, and no structures were lost to this fire.

     

    400 firefighters fought the blaze, which was first reported at 2:30pm Saturday afternoon. 

     

    Locals Invited To Lake Cachuma Family Camp

    Residents are encouraged to take part in a weekend camp, full of fun outdoor activities. 

     

    The City of Santa Clarita is encouraging residents to sign up for the 13th Annual Lake Cachuma Family Camp, Friday July 20, 2007 through Sunday, July 22nd.
         
    Come meet other families from the Santa Clarita Valley who enjoy camping as much as you do.  Crafts, games and campfires will be planned, or you can relax with your family while enjoying summer weather.  A potluck dinner will highlight this memorable family weekend.

    Truck Downs Hydrant And Signal Box

    Afternoon Traffic Snarled In Valencia.

    Traffic backed up quickly in Valencia Saturday afternoon due to a downed fire hydrant at the intersection of Valencia Boulevard and Cinema Drive. The white pickup truck involved also took out a traffic signal control box.

    The incident occurred at approximately 1 PM and impacted traffic at the intersection of Bouquet Canyon Road and Valencia Boulevard. No injuries were reported.

    Route 23 Closed Until 4 P.M.

    State Route 23, three miles north of Moorpark, is closed for road repair.

    Runner Commends State Transportation Agencies

    Hwy 138 improvements made a top priority

    ImageState Senator George Runner (R-Antelope Valley) today applauded Will Kempton, director of Caltrans, and the commissioners of the California Transportation Commission for their support of continued improvements to a portion of Highway 138, and for assuring that further funding is probable.

     

    LA County Opens Cooling Center In SCV

    SCV Service Center to host cool rooms

    To provide relief from the heat for the elderly and others who face heat-related health difficulties and stress, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health will open a cooling center to serve the Santa Clarita Valley community, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

     

    The cooling station located at the Santa Clarita Valley Service Center will be open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday:

    Newhall Street Work To Start Monday

    Street and drainage improvements will solve problems for residents

    Street and drainage improvements on 8th Street in Newhall, from Cross Street up to and including Parkview Drive, will begin on Monday, July 9, 2007 and continue until mid-September 2007.
