    Dodgers Surpass 3.5 Million Mark In Ticket Sales

    Dodgers set new attendance record.

    The Los Angeles Dodgers announced today that they have surpassed the 3.5-million mark in ticket sales for the 2007 season and by doing so, the club beat last year’s record which was the fastest they have hit that mark since 1992.  The Dodgers are the only Southern California team to have reached 3.5 million fans in a single season.

    This Saturday, August 4th from 9:00am-11:00am will be the third and final Recycle for Life event of the summer in honor of Evan Hutchison.

     

    This event will once again be held at Highlands Elementary.

     

    All empty beverage containers are needed to help raise money for the Evan Hutchison Fund. 

     

    Mercado-Fortine Will Run For Re-Election

    Hart board incumbent hoping to sit for another term

    As the W.S. Hart High School Board election nears, the two incumbents who currently hold the seats up for vote have announced their plans to run for re-election.

     

    Gloria Mercado-Fortine is one of them, having held a spot on the Board for two non-consecutive terms so far.

     

    Mercado-Fortine is an educational administrator.

     

    According to her, dealing with the District’s financial overruns is an important task that still needs to be completed.

    McKeon Pulls In Money For Palmdale Transportation Center

    Mayor to use funds for parking lot expansion

    Rep. Howard P. “Buck” McKeon announced that $250,000 has been included in the House-passed Transportation-HUD Appropriations bill for the Palmdale Transportation Center’s parking facilities.  The Center opened in April 2005 and has been providing citizens a regional transportation hub offering connections between Antelope Valley Transit Authority local and commuter bus service, Metrolink commuter rail service, Santa Clarita Transit bus service, Greyhound bus service and Amtrak Throughway bus service.
