A crowd of about 100 braved the summer heat Thursday and Friday to become the first Santa Clarita residents to own the coveted Apple iphone.

The $600 price tag did not deter folks from gathering in front of the AT&T store on Valencia Blvd as early as 6 PM Thursday.

The highly anticipated iphone, which went on sale across the country Friday, is the latest product by Apple. It is a cell phone, ipod, camera and Wi-Fi capable web browser all in one.

Appointed last year, Scott Wilk is getting an early start for the election

Getting an early start, a fundraiser was held for Scott Wilk, who will be running for a spot on the College of the Canyons Board of Trustees.

The publicly elected position is one Wilk is already serving, although he came to his seat by way of special circumstances.

Many attend VIA Bash to see recipients receive their award 

The Valley Industrial Association (VIA) announced the recipients of this year’s annual VIA awards at their signature event, the VIA Bash, on June 22, 2007.  This year’s recipients were Randy Moberg with LBW Insurance and Financial Services awarded Volunteer of the Year, The Loose Goose awarded Rising Star, College of the Canyons awarded Business of the Year, and a special Lifetime Achievement recognition awarded to Connie Worden-Roberts.
