Sheriff's Sgt. Given Zonta Award

Gerri McCorkle improves the status of women.

Some of Gerri McCorkle’s strongest community service has been dedicated to building character and success for girls, so it is appropriate that Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley has named McCorkle winner of the annual Carmen Sarro Award for Improving the Status of Women Through Community Service. The award is named for Carmen Sarro, a founding member of Zonta who lost a battle with cancer after leaving a legacy of service throughout the community.

               

Dodgers Beat Rockies 2-1

With some late inning heroics, the Dodgers defeated the Colorado Rockies 2-1.

The Dodgers will wrap up thier series against the Rockies Wednesday.  Coverage begins at 6:30 pm on Your Hometown Station, AM 1220, KHTS!

Legislators promised no new taxes for Californians today. At a press conference, Senator Tom McClintock said the following:

The Dodgers lost their home opener to the Rockies 6-3 Monday afternoon.  The boys in blue will try again Tuesday evening at 6:30 taking on the Colorado Rockies on AM1220 KHTS.

Salute To Sondeim Cancelled

Show will be re-scheduled.

The Salute to Stephen Sondeim that was planned for Sunday, April 15th has been canceled due to a scheduling conflict.

The Theatre Project SCV had planned to present a salute to Stephen Sondeim, whose legendary musical writings include classics A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, West Side Story, Sunday in the Park with George and more.

 

NRC Looking For Members

Newhall Redevelopment Committee has 8 openings.

The City of Santa Clarita is encouraging interested people to apply for positions on the Newhall Redevelopment Committee. Eight positions are available.

The Committee is made up of 13 members with an interest in redevelopment issues within the Newhall Project Area.  The Committee advises the Redevelopment Agency on redevelopment/ revitalization in the Newhall Project Area and assists with implementation of the Downtown Newhall Specific Plan.
