    ImageEighteen year old, Lauren Blaire, a vibrant senior and talented catcher, was killed by a drunk driver while waiting at a red light at Plum Canyon and Bouquet Canyon .   

     

    COC Involved With "Law Day"

    Activities to give unique view on today’s issues.

    Starting at 1:00pm on Tuesday, May 1, College of the Canyons Performing Arts Center will play host to three very special legally minded presentations.

    This is the first time College of the Canyons has held events in recognition of "Law Day."  

     

    Three presentations, dealing with issues of law as they pertain to modern life will be made.  They are:

    Several people have asked that KHTS set up a way for the community to congratulate Welch on all of his achievements, and so we have posted a section on our blog page to do just that.

    The City of Santa Clarita’s Anti-Gang Task Force and Mad About Rising Crime (M.A.R.C) with host the 10th annual Hero of the Week Recognition Ceremony on Monday, April 30th, at 7 p.m. at the George A. Caravalho Activities Center, located at 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway in Canyon Country.

    Canyon High Coach Harry Welch Announces Resignation

    It is with deep emotion that I announce that I met this afternoon with our
    varsity football players of Canyon High School and informed them that I am
    resigning as head varsity football coach.  I have also sent a formal
    notice of my immediate resignation to the principal.

    Special Olympics Asks For Volunteers

    They're calling on the public for help.

    The Special Olympics is currently seeking over 150 volunteers to assist on Saturday, May 19 for the Annual Spirit Games Competition, with a preference for the afternoon shift. 

     

    This annual event hosts over 1,000 athletes from throughout Southern California and needs over 550 volunteers in order to accommodate all of the sports venue and athletes that will take part. 

     

    Currently, over 400 community volunteers will give at least four hours of their time to our local Special Olympics athletes.
