Bank Robbery Suspects Arrested

Robbery suspects described as, two male Black adults, one male Hispanic adult and one male Black juvenile, entered the Bank of America at Bouquet Canyon and Seco Canyon Road in Saugus at 11:50am this morning.

 

While one suspect held a gun pointed at the customers, the other two suspects went behind the counters and stole a large amount of cash.  The suspects left in a light blue Toyota Cressida.  Witnesses saw the license number and reported it to Sheriff’s Deputies.  The vehicle was located by responding deputies abandoned on a nearby street.

 

The City of Santa Clarita Reconsiders Open Space Preservation

Open Space Preservation District would help provide funds for the city to purchase land.

The issue of Open Space Preservation in Santa Clarita is once again on the table.

In 2005, property owners said “no” to a plan - which would have established a $25.10 yearly assessment to single family homes in Santa Clarita that would have financed the Open Space Preservation District.

A recent poll of residents shows there is interest and council members are set to vote on the issue tonight.

Two scholarships have been established by College of the Canyons, one in memory of John J. O’Brien, one of the college’s first instructors who died on January 19, 2007 and one in memory of student and hockey team member, Jerrod Miyaki, who died on November 9, 2006.

The official 2007 Man and Woman of the Year will be named at the 40th Annual Recognition Dinner to be held Friday, May 4, 2007, in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Valencia Hotel. The event will pay tribute to the top volunteers in Santa Clarita Valley and to past award recipients. It will benefit a number of charities and will include dinner, a multi-media presentation and the recognition ceremony.
