CA Lawmakers Going After Street Gangs

Lawmakers Emphasize Winning the War on Street Gangs.

Republican lawmakers have unveiled a comprehensive legislative package focused on winning the war on street gangs.  Gang violence has infiltrated into urban, suburban and rural neighborhoods and lawmakers stressed that gangs must be a priority of the State Legislature this year. 


Over a dozen measures will focus on prevention and intervention to end the cycle of gang recruitment, suppression and intervention of gang activity, and enhance penalties to provide justice for victims.

Kings To Open Next Season Abroad

London's new arena will host season opener.

The Los Angeles Kings will open the 2007-08 National Hockey League regular season at the new O2 Arena in London, England, with two games against the Anaheim Ducks on September 29 and 30, today announced Kings Governor Timothy J. Leiweke from the O2 in London in conjunction with the NHL and the Ducks.  The special “NHL Premiere 2007” series will be the Kings’ first games ever outside of North America and the first NHL regular season games to be played in Europe.

On Thursday night, the Kings defeated the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim 4-3 in overtime.Catch the next Kings game on Saturday at 12:30 pm as the Kings take on the Nashville Predators, only on Your Hometown Station, AM 1220, KHTS.

Bands' Best To Perform

           Saturday night concert to showcase local talent. 


            Outstanding musicians selected by audition from music programs in junior and senior high schools across the Santa Clarita Valley will be on stage Saturday evening, March 3, for the annual Hart School District Honor Band Concert. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. in Hart Auditorium with the junior high school honor band, followed by the high school honor band.

Bradley, became the first male athlete from the Santa Clarita Valley’s newest high school, West Ranch,  to be chosen first-team All-Foothill League in boys basketball.  Bradley follows behind freshman girls cross country runner Bailey Miller who became the school’s first athlete to make a first team league squad.

Council Race Adds Two Candidates

Maria Gutzeit has also filed Candidate Intention Statement papers with the City Clerk.
