    School Looking At Fitness Of The Future

    Fitness Demonstration Kicks Off New PE Curriculum, Fund Drive.

    Students at Sierra Vista Junior High School demonstrated the school’s new Fitness Center equipment in a fitness open house this morning. The day-long event kicks off the school’s fundraising drive, with a goal of $50,000 to complete the center.

    Local Fitness Guru Recruited By Gatorade

           Pilates Teck President will be new spokesperson for product in Canada. 

          Karena Lineback, president of Pilates Teck and Santa Clarita resident, has been selected by Gatorade to be a spokesperson for the release of Propel Fitness Water in Canada. 

          The company contacted Karena after finding her book, OsteoPilates, Build Bone Density, Reduce Fracture Risk, Look and Feel Great!, on the internet. The book ties in with Propel’s message of performing quality bone-building exercise and consuming enough calcium in one’s diet. 

    City's Sales Tax Numbers Are Out

                City posts big gains.

                The City of Santa Clarita’s sales tax figures for the third quarter of 2006 were released this week and have increased 5.6% over the same period in 2005, with the largest gain again in business-to-business sales which posted a 23% increase over last year.

                The City of Santa Clarita continues to outpace the region in overall sales tax increases, gaining 4.1% overall in transportation related sales compared to the previous quarter in 2006.

    Dodger Legend Dies

    Clem Labine had "heart of a lion."

    The Dodgers are saddened to announce that former Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodger pitcher Clem Labine passed away at the age of 80.

    Labine pitched 13 seasons in the Major Leagues, including 11 seasons with the Dodgers.

    Galaxy Within Reach Of Santa Clarita

    Major League Soccer to come to COC.

    On Sunday, March 18th, the Los Angeles Galaxy Soccer team will be playing in Santa Clarita.

    Graffiti Defendants Held Accountable

    Community Court Participants to Clean the Neighborhood.

    Beginning Saturday, March 3, 2007, 10 Santa Clarita Community Court Diversion Program participants will begin removing graffiti in the Newhall area as a condition of their probation and to make restitution for their crimes committed through community service hours.
