Man And Woman Of The Year Not A Popularity Contest

Awards center around charity, volunteerism.

Any association between red carpets and the man and women of the year nominees are not unfounded. At Tuesday night’s Press Party for the nominees, the red carpet will be out, and paparazzi will be snapping away.


But that doesn’t mean that the invitees are famous.


In fact, the whole reason behind the A-List treatment is specifically because the Awards celebrate those who are not praised enough for their work in the community.

Facilities Foundation Opens Its Books

Papers released to denounce rumors.

Two spreadsheets detailing the Hart District Facilities Foundation’s expenditures have been released to KHTS by Superintendent and Foundation member Jaime Castellanos.

The spreadsheets show a list of projects from May of 1998 to the present day.

Deputies Arrest Shooting Suspect

Suspect said to have shot at man for looking at him.

A 23 year old man named Jorge Valle, a resident of Palmdale was arrested yesterday afternoon. Deputies believe that he is the man behind a January shooting that took place in the parking lot of the Facey Medical Center on McBean Parkway.


It's Official! Harry Welch Stadium

In a unanimous decision, the William S. Hart District School Board voted late last night to rename the Canyon High School Athletic Stadium, the Harry Welch Stadium.


Life At Valley View A "Win-Win"

Local school breaks barriers.

Gayle Abril, Principal at Valley View Community School got an email in late January that began with the word; congratulations. 

As it turns out, Valley View was determined to be a finalist for the California Advisory Commission for Special Education’s GOAL Award.

GOAL stands for Grazer Outstanding Achievement in Learning Award, and it looks for schools with the top Special Education techniques.

Valley View’s Win-Win program caught their eye because it integrates the Special Education population in with the rest of the school.

Kings Lose 3-2

The Los Angeles Kings lose to Columbus Blue Jackets in overtime 3-2.


For a second night in a row, the Kings could not hang on for a win as they followed Tuesday night's losing game on the road against Chicago with another loss to the Blue Jackets. They held on in overtime to a 2-2 score falling to a last minute goal by the Blue Jackets with :21 seconds left in the game.

McKeon Named Policymaker Of The Year
