    Runner Named Legislator Of The Year

    ImageSenator George Runner (R-Antelope Valley) was recognized for his work and commitment to improving access and opportunity for Californians by the California Community College Trustees which named him 2006 Legislator of the Year.

    Canyon Beats Hart 59-48

    In a game heard live on KHTS, the Canyon Cowboys Boys Basketball team beat the Hart Indians 59-48, in the final game of the regular season.  Tune in to KHTS on Tuesday night, when you can hear a first round basketball playoff game.

    Kings Lose 4-3

    These days, charities aren’t just about donating money. Sure, money goes from you to a good cause; however it almost doesn’t seem like you’re just giving it away. The fact is, charities have gotten really good at planning events that are good not only for the organization, but a whole lot of fun for the donors as well.
     

    And that’s not a bad thing. In fact, it’s incredibly clever, and it opens the door for events to actually be more successful for everyone involved.

    McKeon Gets Mammoth Vote

    Rep. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon (R-CA) praised the House for passage of his legislation, HR 356, removing restrictions on the use of land patented to the Mammoth Community Water District in Mono County.

    "Passage of this bill represents a sensible approach to land usage and the empowerment of the Mammoth Community Water District," said McKeon.  "The House, in passing HR 356, recognizes that the District knows best how to use its resources and will be good stewards of the land."

    The City of Santa Clarita will host the second public participation design workshop for the new Santa Clarita Sports Complex Skate Park on Saturday, February 10, 2007, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The Santa Clarita Sports Complex is located at 20870 Centre Pointe Parkway.

    Planning Commission Passes Henry Mayo Expansion

    ImageIn a decision marred by confusion and frustration, the Planning Commission narrowly passed the Henry Mayo expansion to the City Council on a 3-2 vote. It will now be up to Bob Kellar, TimBen Boydston, Laurene Weste, Marsha McLean and Frank Ferry to decide once and for all.

     

    LA County Frees Funding To Keep Kids Out Of Trouble

    The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved nearly $4 million in supplemental Juvenile Justice Crime Prevention Act (JJCPA) funds  to expand and enhance the services provided by the Probation Department, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.
