Amgen's Roster Crowded With Talent

Vin Scully Named Sportscaster Of The Year

ImageDodger Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully was named the 2006 California Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association for a record 28th time. The honor was Scully’s fourth straight from the organization, which began recognizing excellence in sports broadcasting and writing in 1959.

Mayor Visits Future Business Leaders

McKeon Co-Sponsors New Bill To Pardon Border Patrol Agents

ImageLess than a month ago, Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean reported to Federal Prison to begin their sentences for shooting a drug smuggler in the buttocks while trying to apprehend him. The very next day, California Congressman Duncan Hunter introduced a bill to pardon both agents. The bill was co-sponsored by 84 Congressmen, including Representative Howard “Buck” McKeon.

Jessica's Law Moves Past Injunction

The following is a statement by Senator George Runner (R-Antelope Valley) and Assemblywoman Sharon Runner (R-Antelope Valley) in response to Judge Karlton’s decision to deny the injunction on Proposition 83.

“We are pleased with Judge Karlton’s decision today.  The decision allows us to continue to move forward on implementing Prop 83 and apply the new residency restrictions to sex offenders as they are being released from prison,” said Senator Runner.

Council To Give $25,000 To Annexation Study

Tuesday night’s City Council meeting had a bit of unfinished business. Two weeks ago, Bob Kellar had proposed giving $25,000 to the unincorporated County areas that consist of Castaic, Stevenson Ranch and West Ridge to study the benefits of annexation into Santa Clarita.  That issue came to a vote Tuesday night and it passed unanimously.

This follows another $25,000 that Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich gave the areas to study the feasibility of their tax revenue supporting the services that the County currently provides to them.

 

Mark James Nabs Latest Champions Tour Trophy

Mark James of England opened his 2007 Champions Tour season with a victory over the weekend at the Allianz Championship in Boca Raton, Fla. The former European Ryder Cup Captain (1999) shot a final round 4-under 68 to earn a two-stroke victory over Jay Haas, the reigning Champions Tour Player of the Year.
