In the first round of the boys high school basketball playoffs, the Canyon Cowboys fell to the Serra Cavilers 76-50.  In other local action, Hart lost to St. Bernard 59-55, Valencia lost to Chaparral 67-53, Saugus lost to Cajon 57-56, and Golden Valley lost to Pasadena 70-39.

Dr. Keith Richman, the former State Assemblyman for Santa Clarita and other areas has taken up an offer to head a campaign to build a new 101 bed tower at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center.

Richman was a practicing physician for many years before entering politics, a career move that ultimately earned him high marks among his constituents.

Students from across the Newhall School District will participate in a non-competitive Fun Run for Grades K through 6.  The run includes warm-up activities, fitness stations with some surprise trainers and post run festivities.

This run has been designed to promote health and fitness among our young people.  The proceeds will benefit Newhall School District libraries and physical education programs. Students from throughout the Santa Clarita Valley are invited to join in the fun.
