    On Saturday evening in a game heard live on KHTS, the Hart Indians girls basketball team moved on to the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section Division 1A playoffs, by defeating Foothill High School 50-44.  You can hear a semifinal game broadcast LIVE on KHTS, Tuesday beginning at 7:15pm.

    On Thursday, March 1st, the Santa Clarita Valley Mayor’s Committee For Employment of Individuals with Disabilities will put on a special day where guests can enjoy lunch and hear from Danny Murphy, a disabled actor featured in There’s Something About Mary.   

    The story of Danny’s transition from corporate life to a successful career in acting will take center stage, and you can hear the lecture for free. If you would like to also have lunch, a $10 donation is needed.

    The Theatre Project/SCV To Host "Salon Series"

    On Friday evening, March 2nd, The Theatre Project/SCV is hosting a “de-lovely” evening saluting the works of Noel Coward and Cole Porter.

    Being held at the MacMillan Ranch home of Carl Goldman & Jeri Seratti-Goldman, this will be the first in a series of “Salon Performances” to encourage membership in THE CORPORATE 100, a core group of local businesses joined to support the creation of a new Santa Clarita Valley theatre company that will bring professional theatre close to home, with an emphasis on great Broadway musicals.

    Smart Growth SCV, the main opposition to the proposed Henry Mayo Expansion plan, has appealed the Planning Commission's decision to recommend the plan for approval by the City Council. The following appeal was submitted with the $2,100 filing fee this week.

    Food Pantry Moves Beyond City Limits

    Recognizing the vast size of the Santa Clarita Valley and the needs of those who require help in getting food on the table—but live on the valley’s outskirts—the SCV Food Pantry has launched a food distribution site for families and qualified senior citizens in the Castaic/Val Verde area. 

    Beginning March 1, 2007, the Food Pantry will distribute food to Castaic/Val Verde residents in need on the first Thursday of each month.  The food is distributed at the Castaic Sports Complex at 31230 Castaic Road in Castaic from 10 am to 11:30 am.
