Mayor’s Committee to Laugh with Danny Murphy.

Comedian Danny Murphy, one of Hollywood’s top disabled talents, will be the guest speaker at the March 1 luncheon meeting of the Santa Clarita Valley Mayor’s Committee for Employment of Individuals with Disabilities.

Becky Warloe is willing to sacrifice comfort for a good cause.She’s made a vow to jump into Castaic Lake not once, but 24 times March 9th through 10th. It’s a fundraiser that sees people sponsor her to take the plunge into the cold water every hour on the hour for a full day.

Henry Mayo expansion plan takes heat from the public.

On Monday, members from Smart Growth SCV held up signs and chanted slogans in front of Henry Mayo, protesting their proposed expansion plan.

“Hospital beds yes, better facilities, yes. Medical office buildings no,” said a member of the group.

Smart Growth SCV has emerged as the number one adversary to Henry Mayo’s plans. They have showed up at Planning Commission meetings, debates, and City Council meetings.

Earlier this month, volunteers from the American Red Cross and representatives from the City of Santa Clarita and Emergency Services came together to refine a unified plan for the establishment of Evacuation Centers and Shelters in the event of a large disaster in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Representatives from Los Angeles County Fire, Los Angeles Sheriffs, California Highway Patrol, Hart School District, College of the Canyons and Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control were in attendance.
