Women Robbing Seniors Identified

ImageThe two women targeting senior citizens in grocery stores have been identified and it appears that they are now on the run.


The Sheriff’s Department announced that Mishelle “Shay” Burrell and Aesha Gibson, both Lancaster residents, have been identified as the suspects who were stealing from seniors in local grocery stores on December 29th.

Kings Lose to Blues

Canyon Country Gets Its Lights Knocked Out

At 8:25 last night, East Canyon Country had its power go out, leaving about 3,500 residents in the dark.

KHTS received reports that the outage was caused by a car that crashed into a utility pole near the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and Sand Canyon.

Antonovich Names Hart Grad As Field Deputy

Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich announced that Rosalind Wayman will serve as his Field Deputy for the Santa Clarita Valley beginning Feb. 1, 2007. 

Rosalind was previously District Director for Los Angeles City Councilwoman Wendy Greuel, Cultural Affairs Administrator for the City of Santa Clarita and General Manager of the Los Angeles City Department of Neighborhood Empowerment.

Bowl-A-Thon Is Time For Fun, Helping

On February 17th, the local bowling alley will be the site of some friendly competition on the lanes between teams of bowlers from local businesses and organizations, all for a good cause.


The Santa Clarita Valley Optimist Club, long time supporters of children’s programs, is hosting the event, where proceeds will go to benefit Heads Up Therapy on Horseback.

Will the Sheriff’s Department team out “roll” the CHP’s team? Will team KHTS rely on Hometown Morning Show host John Summers to make us champions? It’s anybody’s guess.

Smyth Joins Runner To Break Up LAUSD

Assemblyman Cameron Smyth (R-Santa Clarita) and Senator George Runner (R-Antelope Valley) today introduced much needed legislation to break up the Los Angeles Unified School District.


CHP Escorting Cars Through Grapevine

UPDATE: Northbound I-5 is has now re-opened, however the CHP is escorting cars through a stretch of the grapevine.   


This particular stretch is still considered dangerous due to the heavy amounts of snow it received. The roads may still be icy in places, and the CHP will continue to escort convoys through the area until it is believed that cars can drive at reasonable speeds through the pass. 

There was a slew of accidents yesterday morning when the harsh weather conditions that included hail, snow and ice first hit the area.

High School Basketball Scores

On Tuesday night, the Saugus Centurions Boys Basketball team beat the Valencia Vikings 69-64.  In other local action, Canyon beat West Ranch 55-52 and Hart beat Golden Valley 74-44.  Tune in to KHTS on Friday night beginning at 6:15pm, to hear Valencia take on Canyon.
