    News from the North Pole

    KHTS has just received word that Santa and his elves are working hurriedly to get the sleigh packed.

    They cited the fact that Santa Clarita residents are mostly to blame due to their extra good behavior in helping with the Sheriff’s Toy Drive and other good causes this time of year.

    “We had to make all of these extra gifts for them,” said the Head Elf, “Now we have to wrap them and pack them…we might even need to put another Reindeer in the pack to compensate for the weight.”

    A robbery and burglary suspect is still on the run as of Friday evening, after having fled police in the area of MacMillan Ranch on Sand Canyon Rd. on Thursday.

     The whole city was behind Canyon High School as they played De La Salle of Concord for the California State Championship game.

    Route 66 hosted a pep rally the night before the game, and then on Saturday it was off to the Home Depot center for the game.
    They won by a score of 27 to 13.

    Caltrans Warns Holiday Drivers: Get Early Start

    The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) advises motorists planning to travel on the northbound Golden State Freeway (I-5) in Castaic, located between the City of Santa Clarita (Valencia) and “The Grapevine,” to plan ahead and leave early to avoid holiday-related traffic delays.  Heavy traffic is expected beginning Wednesday, December 20th through New Years Day.

    An ongoing lane closure on northbound I-5 at Templin Highway will continue throughout this time for slope stabilization repairs. Three northbound lanes and all four southbound lanes will remain open.

    City Transit Gets the Gold

    The City of Santa Clarita’s Transit Maintenance Facility was awarded a “Gold” rating from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System.

    LEED is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.  The LEED plaque is recognized nationwide as proof that a building is environmentally responsible, profitable and a healthy place to live and work.
