Lockheed Player of the Week - J.J. DiLuigi - December 5, 2006

Congratulations, J.J. DiLuigi of Canyon High School for being a “Player of the Week”.
Canyon running back, DiLuigi, ran for 214 yards and four touchdowns, including a 71-yard score on Canyon’s first play of the game that set the tone in the Cowboys 42-7 semi-final win over Westlake.
Congratulations, J.J. from Lockheed Federal Credit Union, The Signal, and KHTS AM-1220!
For his performance, Lockheed Federal Credit Union will donate $250 to the Canyon High School booster club.

Hart Regiment Wins Fifth State Band Championship

Hart High School’s Marching Regiment has earned its fifth consecutive championship in state marching band competition sponsored by the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association. In competition this Saturday in Downey, Hart bested second place Valencia High School from Placentia with a score of 91.95 points to Valencia’s 90.70 to win the overall championship.

BREAKING NEWS: Armed Robber Hits Bank on Lyons


A man walked into Citibank today on Lyons Avenue, and handed a teller a note. The note demanded money and the robber verified his intention by flashing a handgun.



Sheriff’s department officials have not disclosed the specific amount of money the teller gave to the man.

The robber than ran out of the bank, and out of sight.



Its Official: Assemblyman Cameron Smyth Takes Oath

Today at 12:00 noon, Cameron Smyth was sworn in to the California State Assembly.



It was a tender goodbye last Tuesday, as the city council saw Cameron Smyth’s last vote. The first portion of the meeting was devoted to staff’s reminiscing, and presentations.



Antonovich Announces Homeless Outreach


As part of the Bush Administration’s National Project Homeless Connect Week, Los Angeles County Mayor Michael D. Antonovich announced “Project Homeless Connect Day” in Los Angeles County on December 6.  



“To assure the homeless have every available opportunity to access social services including mental health care, this vital public/private partnership brings County departments and community groups together providing a direct linkage between the homeless and public assistance agencies,” said Antonovich.

Free Lunch Time Trolley!

The City of Santa Clarita presents the Hometown Trolley as your new way to travel to lunch, FREE!  The Hometown Trolley will roll onto local streets beginning Monday, December 1, and will provide free lunchtime travel for two areas.



“We are very excited to offer this new service to our community and encourage Santa Clarita residents to utilize the Hometown Trolley for all mid-day, local dining or shopping travel.  Just flag down the Trolley driver for passenger pickup," stated City of Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste.  



Senior Driver Safety Training 2007 Schedule



           The AARP Driver Safety Program has announced their SCV Senior Center teaching schedule for the year 2007. Instructors Roger Oleson and Glenn Grade alternate months throughout the year. Classes run Fridays from 2–6 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. –12:30 p.m. This course covers the Rules of the Road as well as safety tips, and completion of this eight-hour class will earn each participant a three-year certificate, and for drivers 50 and over, an auto insurance credit.
