    Kings Fall To Red Wings 6-2

    In their final game of 2006, the Kings lost to the Detroit Red Wings 6-2.   You can hear the next Kings game, Wednesday night beginning at 7:00pm, when they will take on the Columbus Blue Jackets LIVE on KHTS.

    This is a continuance of yesterday’s article in which we looked backward to major events that took place in 2006.

    Now we will look to 2007.

    Community Invited to ?Sweetheart Gala? on Valentine?s Day


    The Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation is inviting the community to its first annual Have a Heart “Sweetheart Gala” on February 14 at the Hyatt Valencia.

    “It will be a red carpet affair and we will also have surprise entertainment,” hinted Shelley Hann, co-chair of the gala along with her husband G. Marshall Hann. “On Valentine’s Day, it’s a little more difficult to get into our community’s very busy and wonderful restaurants. This event will assure community members a romantic, first-class evening to remember.”

    Freeway Lane Closures For Next Week

    Sylmar/North San Fernando Valley – The California Department of
    Transportation (Caltrans) will close the following lanes of the Golden
    State Freeway (I-5), as part of a $41.6-million project to construct High Occupancy Vehicle, (HOV), or
    carpool lanes, on northbound and southbound I-5 from State Route 118 to
    State Route 14:

    TUESDAY, JANUARY 2 THROUGH THURSDAY, JANUARY 4:

    ·    5 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Up to two lanes of northbound I-5 from State Route
    210 to State Route 14

    The Year In Retrospect


    With 2006 leaving Santa Clarita behind, it seems clear that the year was at the very least, a full one. In fact, looking back at last year may only bring more questions about what will happen in 2007.  

    I find it to be fitting though. Our city grows every single day and luckily for us, the city staff and residents alike have taken up the fight in preparing for the future of Santa Clarita. There have been rallies, parades, campaigns stubborn protests. It has been an emotional mix of voices this year, and most issues have yet to be settled.

    An Elegant Evening Of Jazz

    The 2007 Smooth Jazz Concert series will take over the College of the Canyon’s Performing Arts Center on February 24th. The night will feature Peter White, Eloise Laws and local band SpareTime.

    Tickets will be on sale soon, so mark your calendars!

    With giving in their hearts during the holiday season, eight groups of donors gathered in front of the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center on the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital campus recently and presented gifts totaling more than $120,000 to benefit the breast imaging center.
