Milton Friedman Dies at 94

November 16, 2006 -  Los Angeles County Mayor Michael D.  Antonovich released the following statement on the passing of Milton Friedman:
 
"The death of Milton Friedman marks the passing of the most influential economist of the 20th Century.  His free market philosophy and commitment to economic liberty was the impetus for our Nation's current economic prosperity and strength.  I had the privilege of knowing him as a friend and mentor who helped shape my political philosophy.  Our prayers and sympathies are with his wife Rose and his family.   
 

Henry Mayo Drills on Disaster Scenario



Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital participated in a statewide disaster drill this morning, and while the dirty bomb scenario was faked, the action was real.

It started at 6:00 this morning with the role playing news that a dirty bomb had gone off in San Bernardino.

Teams of hospital staff sprung into action, going through the motions as if it were real.

Truck Spills Hazardous Material on 210 Freeway

A truck carrying some hazardous material was struck by another truck at about this morning on highway 210 near la tuna canyon road. The accident sent the cargo onto the freeway, causing responding officials to act with caution.  

The freeway was completely shut down during morning rush hour, and the eastbound lanes remained shut down for several more hours causing a traffic backup that reached to the 5 and 405.

Free Drive Thru Flu Shot Coming to SCV Tomorrow!

On November 17, a free drive thru flu shot clinic will be available to the public from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the College of the Canyon Parking lots 7 & 8. College of the Canyons is located at 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road . This drive thru flu clinic is being held in cooperation with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, the City of Santa Clarita , College of the Canyons, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff.
