Kings Defenseman Rob Blake Honored Tonight

Ceremony marks 1,000th career game

L.A. Kings defenseman Rob Blake, who played in his 1,000th career regular season NHL game on November 4 at Phoenix, will be honored tonight before the Kings-San Jose game at STAPLES Center. The ceremony will take place at 7:37 p.m.

The Kings begin a five-game homestand tonight against the Sharks.

Love Ride After Party Set To Rock Route 66

This Sunday, November 12th, The Love Ride will bring over 20 thousand motorcycles through Santa Clarita and on to Castaic Lake, where the Black Crowes will play a concert.

The ride will celebrate its 23rd year in existence, and it has grown to become the largest, single day motorcycle fundraiser in the world.

Last year, the Love Ride raised nearly 1.5 million dollars, which goes to benefit a wealth of charities including the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Special Olympics, and Cure Autism Now.

Measure M Passes!

Measure 'M', the College of the Canyons Bond issue passed by a margin of 62.3% to 37.7%. A majority of 55% was needed.

On other local election results, Congressman Buck McKeon defeated Robert Rodriquez for the United States Congress. Cameron Smyth won for California State Assembly.

The four incumbent Castaic Lake Water Board members won; Tom Campbell, Peter Kavounas, Jacque McMillan and Ed Colley.

Providence Holy Cross Dietician to Appear on “Top Chef”

Isabel Aguilar, a dietician for ProvidenceHolyCrossMedicalCenter will be appearing on Bravo’s hit television show, Top Chef.

Top Chef is into its second season now, and it pits 15 aspiring chefs against each other in competition. Each week there are eliminations based on the contestant’s ability to blend creativity, skill and customer service as they cook for different clients with different needs.

Donald Rumsfeld Set To Resign

Donald Rumsfeld will step down as Secretary of Defense, according to Republican officials. The news comes as Democrats score major victories across the country, picking up a majority in the house, and potentially even the senate, should a democrat win the close race in Virginia.

It is expected that President Bush will announce Robert Gates, former head of the C.I.A to replace Rumsfeld.

Children’s Art to be Unveiled at Providence Holy Cross

The “Art of Healing” program, a collaboration between Providence Holy Cross and SCV Arts, and sponsored by KHTS, will reveal new artwork for the HolyCrossHealthCenter in Valencia on Saturday, November 11th at 10:00am.

Nearly 200 pieces of artwork were collected from student artists in the SulphurSpringsSchool District.
