Chamber Membership Drive A Big Success!

The two day membership drive held by the SCV Chamber of Commerce was a great success. You can tell by the glowing faces of the participants, the upbeat attitude at the after party, and Larry Mankin, President of the Chamber…wearing a dress.

Mankin made a deal with the Chamber members that should they raise $50,000, he would wear a dress. In all, the membership drive raised over that amount, and accumulated 160 new members.

Rep. Brad Sherman to Co-Sponsor McKeon’s Cemex Bill

Representative Brad Sherman from the 27th congressional district has decided to co-sponsor Buck McKeon’s Cemex bill.

Rep. Sherman disclosed that even though he represents a part of the San Fernando Valley, the Cemex mega mine would still have a devastating effect on his constituents.

Caltrans advises motorists traveling over the upcoming Veteran’s Day Weekend on the northbound Golden State Freeway (I-5) north of Santa Clarita near the “Grapevine,” to please plan ahead and leave early to avoid expected holiday-related delays -- due to an ongoing lane closure on northbound I-5 at Templin Highway, approximately five miles north of Castaic.

National Organ Donor Sabbath At Congregation Beth Shalom

This Friday night, Congregation Beth Shalom will mark “National Organ Donor Sabbath” with a moving presentation by Lisa Voge, a congregant at Congregation Beth Shalom of Santa Clarita. Lisa will share an inspiring personal story about making the decision for her late husband to become an organ donor; and how that decision gave the gift of life to several people in need. We will also learn how to sign up to be an organ donor.

Holy Cross Recommended to Receive Accreditation

Holy Cross has been recommended to receive a full 3-Year JCAHO Accreditation. They received 10 RFI's  (opportunities for Improvement). A number of these are quick fixes, and have already been corrected. The JCAHO Survey team was extremely complimentary of the Holy Cross culture of collaboration and communication between the Medical Staff, Employees and Administration.
