Residents Fearful of Theft Spree

Some residents in the Tres Robles Apartment Complex in Canyon Country are starting to feel like they are a part of crime spree. It seems as if someone has been breaking in to cars there an awful lot. 3 last night, and one resident claims that 19 cars have been broken into this month alone.

KHTS was unable to confirm that number with the Sheriff’s Dept.

“They broke into my car. Stole 2 bowling bags and a GPS unit,” said resident Daryl James.

Interviews Take Place for Council Hopefuls

Friday morning at , 15 people will enter the Santa Clarita Activities center in Canyon Country and face down 3 panels of community members for the job of City Councilman.

With Cameron Smyth vacating his seat, this public process of appointment will begin with this round of interviews. During the interviews, the candidates will go from room to room; 3 total, and field a round of questions.

Recently, the Planning Commission narrowly passed revised plans for Henry Mayo’s proposed expansion plan, adding to a whirlwind of emotions. Henry Mayo and its partner, G&L realty have approached the subject as a plan to better accommodate the health and well being of the city.

BREAKING NEWS: Wendy Hahn Disqualified From Council Selection

A potential candidate for the city council has been disqualified.

Wendy Hahn did not gather the 25 resident signatures needed to fulfill the application process, so the pool of 16 applicants has now shrunk to 15.

Tomorrow, the candidates will interview with the public panels where they will be blind ranked. The top candidates will then be interviewed by the city council on Wednesday.

Micro Chipping Animals The Hotbed Issue At Council Meeting

An ordinance was on the calendar at last night’s City Council meeting that would make it mandatory for animals to be spayed, neutered, and micro chipped. The micro chipping is a procedure that involves injecting a dog or cat with a micro chip roughly the size of a grain of rice. The chip then acts as an identifying tag for the dog.

More I-5 Lane Closures Planned For Next Few Days

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the following lanes of the north- and southbound I-5, as part of a $41.6-million project to construct High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV), or carpool lanes, from State Route 118 to State Route 14. The schedule is as follows:

Daily, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, November 28, 29, 30.

 

Westbound I-210:

  • 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – One connector lane to northbound I-5.

Troops Holiday Wish Lists Include Toothpaste, Chapstick

This holiday season, our troops overseas aren’t wishing for Plasma Screens TVs or Stereo Systems. They need toothpaste, chap stick, deodorant, and maybe even a football.

Their needs maybe be simple for us here, in our offices and in our homes, but they are everything overseas.
