    Woman Shoots Burglar In Canyon Country

     

    This morning a man trying to break into a residence in Canyon Country was shot three times by the homeowner. The suspect then fled into a car driven by his mother. Sheriff’s deputies arriving on the scene were able to apprehend the suspect and his mother less than a mile away. This occured between 10:45 and 11:15am.

    The robbery occurred this morning on Canvas St, a main residential road off of Soledad Canyon, between Anne Freda and Sand Canyon Rd.

    City to Hold Free Parenting Workshop

    It is not easy to raise a family today’s society -- especially with blended or step families. Each family encompasses different dynamics and requires different needs. The City of Santa Clarita believes that every family is unique and deserves to be celebrated -- no matter what the situation is. On Thursday, October 19, 2006, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the City will host Strategies for Success: Building a Successful Blended Family at the City Hall Council Chambers.

    Precinct walking happens this Saturday at Republican Headquarters from 9:30-4:30 p.m.  If you 2 hours you can spare to get some fresh air, exercise and fellowship then this is the event for you!!!

    Congratulations, Shane Vereen of Valencia High School for being a “Player of the Week”.
    Shane Vereen set a new Valencia rushing record Friday against Golden Valley High with 354 rushing yards on 14 carries.  He scored six touchdowns in the Vikings 58-7 win.  Vereen bested the previous Valencia mark, held by Manuel White, by 51 yards.

    Parents Say Schools a Sitting Duck

    They agree Santa Clarita Elementary's crosswalk is unsafe, needs more signage.The intersection near a Saugus school, tucked off to the side of one of the city's busiest intersections, where cars reportedly zip by at more than 50 mph even when school's in session, is worrying local residents.  See the full story in Tuesday's Signal.
