Editorial: Cemex Propaganda Hits The SCV

Cemex, the proposed Mega Mine planned off Soledad Canyon Road in Santa Clarita, recently completed a mass mailing to residents throughout the Santa Clarita Valley, welcoming their company into our Valley. The following is an editorial, airing on KHTS AM-1220 radio, by KHTS Co-Owner, Carl Goldman, in response to the mailing.


Dodgers Win 11-4

The Dodgers beat the Rockies 11-4, Tuesday night, in game one of a three game series. Tune in to KHTS Wednesday at 5:00 when the Dodgers will play game two against the Rockies.

Theatre Project SCV Unveils Corporate 100

The Theatre Project/SCV, Santa Clarita’s new professional regional theatre company, is looking for 100 business people in the Santa Clarita Valley to be a part of an elite group called THE CORPORATE 100.  Limited, as the name suggests, to the first one hundred businesses to respond, the group will consist of companies that make a tax-deductible contribution of $5,000 to help fund the first season of The Theatre P

Day Fire Threatens Residents in Lockwood Valley, Lake of the Woods, Frazier Park

At approximately 2:50pm, a spot fire from the Day Fire jumped Lockwood Valley Road on the north side in the area of Grade Valley Road.
 
It is approximately 600 acres in size and is northwest of Santa Clarita in Ventura County.  Winds have turned and are now out of the west at 20 mph. The fire is moving towards the Frazier Park area. Fire personnel and air resources are on-scene and structure protection is in place.
 
The Evacuation Center at Frazier Park has been moved to:

Lockheed Player of the Week

Congratulations, Nick Gauthier of Saugus High School for being a “Player of the Week”.
 
Gauthier, quarterback for the Saugus Centurians, was 17-of-23 on the game for 188 yards and two touchdowns, adding 48 yards on the ground on 11 rushes.  Gauthier, a senior, greatly contributed to the 20-6 win over Chino High.

For his performance, Lockheed Federal Credit Union will donate $250 to the Saugus High School booster club.

Molar Manor Opens Under New Ownership and Location

Benefit for Carousel Ranch takes place on October 6th, 7th, and 8th.

Established in the Santa Clarita Valley in 2001 by Dr. Ronald Singer, Molar Manor’s ‘A Haunted Collection’ was open only two days per year to benefit local charities.  The new owners, Denise Larson Kevitt and Ralph Esacoff, intend  to continue the tradition of charity events but have plans to extend the hours of operation to a year ‘round calendar.

 

District Low on Funds to Finish Jobs

Officials: Money will be gone by December unless another financial source for the projects can be found.The Hart district will run completely out of money for its modernization projects by December if no other funding sources can be found, according to school officials.  Get the entire story in Tuesday's Signal.
