FEMA Funding To Help California Fight Day Fire

Day fire is just another example of how this active wildfire season is far from over.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has authorized the use of federal funds to help California fight the Day fire in Ventura County.

Canyon Country Standoff Ended!

Deputies from the SCV Sheriff's Station, Special Enforcement Bureau, Crisis Negotiation Team, & Arson/Explosives responded to a barricade/hostage situation last evening around 5:30.

The suspect, 53-year old Mark Hillman of Canyon Country, was arrested after a three-hour ordeal at the Diamond Park Apartments. He had apparently threatened to kill his sister, who lives with him.  She wasn't injured.

Standoff In Canyon Country (Update)

Wednesday, at approximately 5:30 p.m. a man in his 50’s or 60’s attempted to stab a woman but was unsuccessful. Claiming to have explosives, a shotgun and a hostage, the suspect barricaded himself inside an apartment at the Diamond Park Apartments located at Solement and Dolan Way in Canyon Country. Soledad Canyon Road at Solement and Sierra Highway at Dolan Way were blocked as Deputies surrounded the complex.

All Corked Up hosted the first annual Food & Wine Festival held on August 19th 2006 at the Saugus Speedway. On September 11th, organizers announced that they raised over thirty-five thousand dollars for the SCV Senior Center.
