Dodgers Win 6-5

On Saturday afternoon, the Dodgers defeated the Giants 6-5. Tune to KHTS on Sunday at 4:30pm, when the Dodgers will take on the Giants in the final game of this series.

Dodgers Slip by Giants 3-2

The Dodgers displayed the defensive edge Friday night as they defeated the arch-rival Giants 3-2. Jeff Kent had a home-run, which helped secure the victory. Barry Bonds had a base hit and was walked three times. The Dodgers play the Giants again on Saturday at noon. Tune into KHTS for all the action.

Runner Authors Two Governor’s Bills in Special Session

Legislation would Build New Prisons, Reentry Facilities and Officer Training Facility
As a part of the special session Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger called to address the issue of prison overcrowding and recidivism, Senator George Runner (R-Antelope Valley) is introducing two of the Governor's proposals to address these issues.  Runner is a leader on public safety issues and will serve as a member of the Select Committee on Prison Population, Management and Capacity committee, which will be holding hearings on the proposals.

Antonovich Calls Federal Grant for Palmdale Regional Airport Vital Step Forward

PALMDALE - The United States Department of Transportation has awarded a $900,000 Small Community Air Service Development grant to the "Wheels Up Palmdale" coalition supporting the Palmdale Regional Airport. "This vital step forward to establish commercial air service at Palmdale Regional Airport illustrates the Federal Government's confidence in the viability of the airport's future success," said Michael D.

Elks Club Fundraiser Now

The Santa Clarita Valley Elks Club's holding their annual rummage sale fundraiser today, Saturday & Sunday.

The Elks contribute to many worthwhile causes & contribute funds to various nonprofit activities.  The annual rummage sale's their largest moneymaking venture.  The event closes noon Sunday.  The Elks Club is located on Sierra Highway in Canyon Country.

COC Board Of Trustees Votes For Bond

The Santa Clarita Community College District Board of Trustees voted Wednesday evening, August 9, to put a $160 million bond measure to fund badly needed college classrooms, labs and other facilities needs on the November 7, 2006 general election ballot.  The vote was unanimous (4-0). “This is a firm statement,” said Board president Bruce Fortine, “that this Board is convinced a significant need exists at College of the Canyons for more classrooms, labs, safety improvements and technology upgrades.
