Dodgers win 5-4

The Los Angeles Dodgers pulled off another win tonight against the Milwaukee Brewers.  The Brewers tied the game late in the 9th inning threatening the Dodgers lead but the Boys in Blue weren’t out yet, Dodger Normar Garciaparra got a single to right allowing Kenny Lofton to score the winning run.  Tune in to your Hometown Station AM1220 KHTS for more exciting Los Angeles Dodgers baseball.

The 2006 Man and Woman of the Year were named and honored for their outstanding work in the community. The elegant event was held at the Hyatt Valencia Friday night, and featured a special ceremony celebrating the nominees and finally the announcement of the 2006 SCV Man and Woman of the Year.

Route 14 to Close at Escondido Canyon

The California Department of Transportation will close the Antelope Valley Freeway (Route 14) in both directions at Escondido Canyon Road on Sunday, May 7, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Detours will be posted and traffic control will be in place. The closure is in relation to a slope stabilization project above Route 14 between Soledad Canyon Road and Escondido Canyon Road. The $12.6 million project involves cutting back the slope and installing retention systems using cable net or wire mesh.

Dodgers win 4-3

The Dodgers broke their 5 day losing streak today beating the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3.  Hopefully this is the start of a new beginning and the Dodgers will continue with their first winning streak of the season.  Tune in tomorrow at 6:30pm to your Hometown Station AM1220 KHTS to cheer on your Los Angeles Dodgers. 

Santa Clarita Professional Boxer to Compete on May 12 for the World Title

Winner of fight will advance to the world championship
Newhall resident, Juan Ruiz Jr., 27, is scheduled to fight Antonio Escalante, 20, from El Paso, Texas, in the main event “War by the Shore,” on May 12, 2006 at 9 p.m. in Chicago, Illinois.  The winner of this fight will advance to the world championship. The event is produced by ‘Golden Boy’- owned by Oscar De La Hoya.

Wastewater Treatment Rates Up

Sanitation District mailer says monthly fee may grow from $10.17 to $14.92 by 2008-09.

Annual rates local residents pay for the treatment of their wastewater could increase by more than $50 over the next three years.
