Dodgers Lose 5-4

The Dodgers blew a two-run eighth inning lead on Wednesday night, losing to the Cubs 5-4. You can hear the Dodgers next game on KHTS, Friday at 7:00pm, when they will take on the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Stonecrest Residents Support City Annexation

Residents of the Stonecrest development in Canyon Country will be meeting with officials to discuss annexation into the City of Santa Clarita.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, April 20th at 7pm at Pine Tree School. Both sides will be presented.

Sand Canyon Closed Between Soledad and Sierra Hwy

Sand Canyon between Soledad and Sierra Highway will be closed for the next five to six weeks. 
Since Monday, April 17, Sand Canyon closed due to construction of a new housing development.  The development, “Stetson Ranch”, will consist of 260 single family homes. 
Notices have been posted for several weeks.  The residents of homes just north of Soledad on Vista Point Lane will have limited access to Sand Canyon.

National University Brings New Programs to University Center at COC

The Interim University Center at College of the Canyons has added three additional programs through National University, Sherman Oaks. This spring saw the addition of a Bachelor of Science in Domestic Security, Master of Science in Homeland Security and a Single Subject Teaching Credential.

Welcome A New Baby Leopard At EFBCs Twilight Tour

ROSAMOND, CA: Saturday, April 22nd, 2006, at 5:30 p.m.; EFBC's Feline Conservation Center hosts the first of three Twilight Tour fund raising events during evening hours.  Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and Admission is $15 per person (18 years and over - no exceptions).  Those prepaying ahead of time for their tickets may enter early at 5:00 p.m.

Wife Faces Conspiracy to Kill Trial

Investigators suspect two other individuals were involved with Ramon Castro's death but don't know their identities.

A judge ruled Tuesday there was sufficient evidence to try Esperanza Castro on charges that she conspired with at least two others to kill her husband.

National Volunteer Week to Celebrate Service

The City of Santa Clarita is proud to celebrate National Volunteer Week, this year happening from April 23 through April 29, 2006. To accommodate the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival, during which hundreds of locals volunteer their time, the City will be officially honoring volunteers at a special Volunteer Recognition Dinner on May 30. Sponsored by the Points of Light Foundation, National Volunteer Week is meant to be a time to thank one of America's most valuable assets –volunteers.

Dodgers win 2-1

The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Chicago Cubs 2-1 tonight in a very close game.  Dodger J.D. High School Art Exhibition at College of the Canyons

College of the Canyons Art Gallery is pleased to present the First Annual High School Art Exhibition representing original art from high school students at campuses in the Santa Clarita Valley.  All high schools were invited, and lead faculty members from each high school were asked to select and submit six works for inclusion in the gallery show.   Participating high schools are Bowman, Canyon, Golden Valley, Saugus, Valencia and West Ranch. The exhibition will run from April 19 through May 13.

I-5 near Pyramid Lake – Lane Closures for Pavement Repair 4-19

Near Pyramid Lake – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans)  
will perform the following lane closures on northbound I-5 near Pyramid Lake, north of Castaic, for a distance of approximately two miles, on Wednesday, April 19 in order to perform storm-related pavement repairs -- as follows:
3 a.m. to 11 a.m. – Three lanes of northbound I-5 from Vista Del Lago to Smokey Bear Road
11 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Two lanes of northbound I-5 from Vista Del Lago to Smokey Bear Road
