    Runner's Legislation To Speed Up Road Delivery Passes Key Committee

    (SACRAMENTO) --- Senator George Runner’s (R-Antelope Valley) legislation to speed up delivery time for transportation projects by eliminating the federal government’s role for review, expediting federal permitting, and improving local government access to federal decision-makers passed Senate Transportation and Housing Committee.

    Dodgers Split Doubleheader

    On Sunday, the Dodgers and Phillies made up Saturday's rainout by playing a doubleheader.  In Game 1, Bobby Abreu hit a three-run walk-off homerun to win it for the Phillies 6-3.  The Dodgers would go on to win Game 2, 6-2.  There’s more Dodgers baseball on KHTS, Monday at 10:00am, when they will take on the Pittsburgh Pirates.

    Providence Raises Over $350,000.00 For Trauma Center

    Forty active members of the Providence Holy Cross Medical Center Guild were recognized for raising $351,682 between 2001 and 2005 through cash donations and sales in the Medical Center Gift Shop.  The funds will help with the expansion of Providence Holy Cross Medical Center’s Emergency Department and Trauma Center expansion.

    Second Electrical Blaze in 1 Week Destroys Home

    The second electrical fire in Santa Clarita this week gutted a Canyon Country house Friday morning and left a family of four homeless, fire officials said. The fire at 17944 Wellhaven St. claimed much of the Corona family’s recently purchased house and belongings. The family, who had only been living in the neighborhood for three months, was not in the home at the time of the fire. “This is the first house we bought,” said Rodolfo Corona, 41, of his wife, Guillermina Corona, 38, and their two children.

    Protected by ‘an Angel’

    When Kimberly Cherney left her Santa Clarita home for work on a rainy Tuesday morning, she had no idea she would come within an arm’s reach of death. “There was an angel in the car protecting me,” she said Friday afternoon prior to being released from Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. The 37-year-old mother of two spent 10 days in the hospital after a March 28 collision with a big rig that left her with massive injuries. In addition to all of her ribs being fractured, she suffered punctures to one kidney, her spleen and each lung, a fractured arm and numerous bruises.
