Clear Program Launches Special Needs Registry

Families Urged to Register Their Loved Ones. The City of Santa Clarita is proud to announce that the Community and Law Enforcement Aware Response (CLEAR) committee has established a Special Needs Registry in cooperation with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Department. The City was a founder and has been a long-time supporter of the CLEAR program, through the City’s Human Relations Forum.

Memorial Planned for Cyclist Killed in Crash

Man driving truck charged with vehicular manslaughter; being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

A memorial service is scheduled this week for a Stevenson Ranch cyclist & teacher killed in a traffic collision in Canyon Country.

Antonovich Initiates Child Care Information Website

The Board of Supervisor has unanimously approved a motion by Los Angeles County Mayor Michael D. Antonovich directing the Chief Information Officer and the Director of Public and Social Services to work with the State Community Care Licensing to create a Child Care information website to help parents and caregivers make informed choices about child care for their children. 
 

Personal and Community Safety Program “Learn to Protect Yourself”

You can attend one of four special programs aimed at reducing personal crimes. Recent increases in crime involving identity theft, senior citizens scamming, car theft and graffiti have prompted local officials to provide community awareness and education.
 
The City of Santa Clarita presents this personal and community safety program on April 18th, 19th, 26th and 27th.

Leading Health Ratings Company Ranks Providence Holy Cross in Top 5 Percent Nati

Providence Holy Cross Medical Center announced today that a study of quality at the nation’s 5,000 hospitals has named Providence Holy Cross Medical Center among the top 5 percent in the nation and a recipient of the 2006 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence. The study conducted by HealthGrades, the leading health care ratings company, found that hospitals in the top 5 percent in the nation had mortality rates that were, on average, 27 percent lower than other hospitals, and major complication rates that were 14 percent lower.

$10,000 Reward Offered For Information On Fatal Shooting Of Duarte Resident

Los Angeles County Mayor Michael D. Antonovich is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the fatal shooting of Duarte resident Eric Buckley. 35 year old Eric Buckley was fatally shot and killed shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 while walking home from work on Salais Street in the unincorporated area of Industry.

Antonovich Appoints Michael Bloom to Commission for Public Social Services

Mayor Michael D. Antonovich has appointed Michael Bloom to the Commission for Public Social Services. A resident of the San Fernando Valley, Bloom is employed at the Pasadena Recovery Center where he specializes in drug and alcohol treatment.  With his extensive experience in the treatment field, Bloom is aware of the need for community-based organizations that serve multiple needs of clients and is motivated to work toward improving the County’s social support system.

City of Santa Clarita Will Pay Tribute to Western Movie Greats!

The City of Santa Clarita’s 2006 Walk of Western Stars will honor four legends of the silver screen from the “golden era of western movies,” on Friday, April 28, 2006, beginning at 3 p.m. on the sidewalks of old town Newhall and culminating with a western gala dinner at the Valencia Hyatt Hotel at 7 p.m.
