Bookmobile Service Hours Extended In Val Verde

Service hours for the Santa Clarita Valley Bookmobile have been increased in Val Verde, Mayor Michael D. Antonovich announced. The bookmobile will be available every other Tuesday from 2-6 pm, allowing children to use the service after school. In addition to providing books and educational materials, the Bookmobile offers Internet access and lifts to accommodate customers with disabilities or impairments.

Tuition-Free Classes For Older Adults Offered By COC

College of the Canyons is now enrollment students in a wide variety of tuition-free programs for older adults throughout the Santa Clarita Valley. Upcoming classes include Painting for Older Adults, Creative Expression Through Needlework Activities; Basic Computer Literacy; Lifelong Learning Skills to Improve Memory and Flexible Thinking; and Global Events Discussion Groups.

Lane Closures For I-5 Carpool Lane Construction 1/30-2/2

Caltrans will close the following lanes of the Golden State Freeway (I-5), as part of a

$41.6-million project to construct High Occupancy Vehicle, (HOV), or carpool lanes, on northbound and southbound I-5 from State Route 118 to State Route 14:

5 a.m. to 2 p.m. -- One lane of northbound I-5 from State Route 210 to State Route 14

8 a.m. to 2 p.m. – One lane of northbound I-5 from I-405 to eastbound State Route 210 on-ramp

TH Santa Clarita Exhibition At The LA Avengers

Welcome to Oak Hills

Scores of individuals who made Oak Hills Elementary School a reality assembled Friday to dedicate the Newhall School District’s 10th school and to symbolically lay the cornerstone and time capsule. While scores of high-level officials gathered on the stage and sat in the forefront of the school’s auditorium, it was the students who commanded the podium as they delivered introductions, gave speeches and led songs. Their ease before an audience of about 700 led Greg McWilliams, president of The Newhall Land and Farming Co., to express his amazement at their sophistication at such young ages.
