San Francisquito Canyon Road to Open in March

As a result of last year’s winter storms

San Francisquito Canyon Road
sustained major damage, including washouts and landslides. But the major commuting route that runs from the northern Santa Clarita Valley to the Antelope Valley will be open at the end of March, Said Melinda Barrett, head of the public relations group for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works. The Road has been up in a limited capacity since June, with the help of a pilot car program.

 

Antonovich Outlines Goals For 2006

Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich applauded hardworking County staff and outlined his goals for the coming year. Leading the list of of priorities are:
  • Public safety
  • Transportation
  • Services for the mentally ill/homeless
  • Adoption for foster children
  • Expansion and maintenance of our equestrian and hiking trail system.

Hart-Canyon Game To Be Televised

Donated Items for Winter Shelter to be Collected at Service Center

Items donated for the Santa Clarita Valley Emergency Winter Shelter can be dropped off at the Santa Clarita Service Center for Community & Senior Services at 24271 San Fernando Road in Newhall between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm  Donors are asked to place items in boxes or bags clearly labeled so that they will be distinguishable from items donated to the Salvation Army. No night drop-offs will be accepted, as items may become wet or damaged if left overnight.

In the Canyon versus Valencia 42-13 game, Canyon quarterback Austin Civita completed 14 of 20 passes for 342 yards and four touchdowns.  As the starting quarterback, Civita passed for 2,605 yards and 24 touchdowns to lead the Cowboys to 12 wins this season.
