Officials Delay Winter Homeless Shelter Opening

Complications with delivery of modular buildings pushes date back four days, from Dec. 16 to Dec. 20...Now that the Santa Clarita Homeless Shelter found a home on county-owned property off Centre Pointe Parkway in Canyon Country, the opening date's been set for Dec. 20.  See the whole story in Friday's Signal.

Kings Lose 3-2

The Los Angeles Kings lost to the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 tonight.  The Hurricanes hit hard and fast obtaining a 3-0 lead through the second period.  The Kings fought back in the third period to score 2 goals bring the score to 3-2 but could not tie the game and lost to the Hurricanes.  Losing tonight brings the Kings record to 17 wins, 12 losses and 1 lose in overtime.  Tune in to your Hometown Station AM1220 KHTS on Saturday, December 10 at 12:30pm when the Kings take on the Florida Panthers.

County Libaries Going Wireless

Due to Increased demand by customers, all 84 county-operated libraries will be ready for wireless Internet access. It will take two years to hook up all of the libraries to become equipped with WiFi, or wireless Fidelity. Work is underway to lay out the blueprints for each library’s wireless Internet infrastructure, said Nancy Mahr, public information officer for the county of Los Angeles Public Library system.

Commission OKs Proposed High-end Shopping Center

Despite its location in close proximity to an earthquake fault line and residents’ concerns about traffic, a local developer has been given the green light to develop a ”high-end” shopping center across from the Bridgeport housing development. Intertex General Contractors is planning to develop a 130,000-square-foot commercial center on 31.75 acres at the northeast corner of
