County Gives Approval for Castaic Hotel

The county has granted final approval for a three-story, 112-unit Comfort Suites hotel to be built at the intersection of The Old Road and Parker Road, west of Interstate-5 in Castaic. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved the project Dec. 6.

Opening of Winter Shelter Delayed Again

After several setbacks, the Santa Clarita Homeless Shelter might open just in time for Christmas. The original opening date of Dec. 16 was pushed to Dec. 20, and then most recently to Dec. 23. The opening has been delayed by necessary modifications and “logistical obstacles” for the shelter’s modular buildings, said Tony Bell, spokesman for Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich. “(We) are working on the surmounting need to meet requirements,” he said.

Julius Chen is one of the 18 Senate Fellows selected from 450 applicants.  Julius Chen, a William S. Hart High School alumnus, recently graduated from Princeton University.
