    Cancer Awareness Funds Presented to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial

    Funds raised at the Crawford-Fleming Breast Cancer Awareness Golf Invitational was presented to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
     
    The money, $113,000 is earmarked for the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center.  It will be applied to the equipment fund for technology upgrades.

    Fire Destroys Valencia Home

    Two residents critically burned in Tuesday morning blaze; cause is still under investigation.A fire gutted a Valencia home & critically burned two of its residents in an early Tuesday morning inferno that followed a neighborhood Christmas party Monday night.  Get the story in Wednesday's Signal.

    405 Freeway Reopened

    The CHP has informed KHTS that the 405 Freeway (San Diego Freeway) is now re-opened.

    The Freeway was shut down earlier this morning when dynamite was discovered in a building during a controlled fire burn. The freeway was shut down between Roscoe and Sherman Way around 6am this morning.

    Traffic is still very congested. Please try and avoid the 405, if possible and stay tuned to Santa Clarita's Hometown Station, AM-1220 for up to the minute details.

    The Ventura Metrolink is also back in operation.

     

    Valencia House Fire Leaves Three Critically Injured

    Six residents of a house in Valencia were injured, three critically, when a serious fire destroyed the home. The blaze started around 6:25am, and some of the residents attempted to escape by jumping from second-story windows. Two adults and a child suffered serious injuries, and were transferred to the Grossman Burn Center in Sherman Oaks for treatment. Neighbors said they were celebrating with the family Monday night at their annual holiday party. Inspectors said they are uncertain whether the celebration or decorations at the residence are linked to the blaze.

    Lockheed Players Honored: December 19, 2005

    On Monday December 19th, local sports players from throughout the Santa Clarita Valley were recognized at a Luncheon for the Lockheed Players of the Week. Each player was recognzied in the Signal newspaper and on AM-1220 KHTS. Additionally, Lockheed made donations in the amount of $250 to the booster clubs of each player's team. Congratulations to all the players on their fantastic seasons!
