    COC Board Reflects on Election at Meeting

    The College of the Canyons trustees meeting Wednesday was a mixture of work and pleasure. Two trustees on the Santa Clarita Community College District board, Joan MacGregor and Ernie Tichenor, were re-elected Tuesday in what both described as a difficult and not always pleasant race.

    Officials Vow to Improve Schools

    Principals from two Hart district schools that have scores below the state’s goal recently told board members they intend to improve student achievement at their school. La Mesa Junior High School Principal Pete Fries gave a light hearted, yet serious overview of  his school's performance to the William S. Hart Union High School District school board on Wednesday, saying he intends for the school to become "the most in demand junior high school in the Santa Clarita Valley."

    I-5 Lane Closures For Pavement Repairs 11/14-11/19

    Caltrans will close the following lanes and ramps of the northbound and southbound Golden State Freeway (I-5) from Vista Del Lago (about two miles north of Castaic) to Frazier Park, as part of a one-year, 40-mile project to repair lanes on I-5 damaged from this year’s heavy rainstorms:
