    Lane Closures Continue for I-5 Carpool Lane Construction 11/18-11/20

    Caltrans will close the following lanes of the Golden
    State Freeway (I-5), as part of a $41.6-million project to construct High Occupancy Vehicle, (HOV), or carpool lanes, on northbound and southbound I-5 from State Route 118 to State Route 14:
     
    FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18:
    ·     9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – One lane (of two) of the westbound State Route 210 connector to northbound I-5
    ·     9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – The westbound State Route 118 connector to northbound I-5

    Tom and Alice Renolds lost their two sons Danny, 15, and Timmy, 18, in a high-speed crash on Soledad Canyon Road in 2000.  On the final day of the “Every 15 Minutes” program Friday, Alice Renolds tried to connect the 1,400 senior and junior students at Saugus High School to the personal grief and pain those results from poor driving choices. The bereaved mother spoke of the events after she learned her sons had been passengers in a car that crashed. “You just can’t imagine ... to stand on Soledad on an icy night trying to get information on your sons,” she said.

    Price of Gas in SCV Falls to New Low

    Gasoline prices in the Santa Clarita Valley continued to drop throughout the last month as increased production and forecasts for a mild East Coast winter caused a decrease in oil prices. A gallon of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.559 in the valley Thursday, which is 8.3 cents lower than last week’s average of $2.642, and 35.9 cents lower than last month’s average of $2.918.
