Kings Lose 4-0

The Los Angeles Kings lost 4-0 against the Phoenix Coyotes.  The Kings could not come together to use one of their multiple power plays to regroup and score on the Coyotes.  Maybe their luck will change when the Kings play against Nashville Predators on the 5th.  Tune in to your Hometown Station AM1220 KHTS for more exciting Los Angeles Kings hockey.

Six More Women, Three Men Join COC Foundation Board

With 19 women and 21 men, the College of the Canyons Foundation board has grown in number and in gender balance this year.  Of the 19 women on the board, six- Rita Garasi, Charlotte Kleeman, Myrna Condie, Diana Cusumano, Doris Marie Zimmer, and Cindy Smith are new members inducted during the foundation’s installation dinner on June 29. Three men, Jeffrey Hacker, William R. Lively and C. Patrick O’Brien- were also inducted at the June dinner. Garasi is corporate secretary at Gruber Systems in Valencia.

Smoke Covers SCV

Several Santa Clarita Valley residents phoned the KHTS Hometown Morning Show (Thursday) wondering about the heavy cloud of smoke covering the area...

The KHTS News Department got word from L.A. County Assistant Fire Chief Matt Gill in Santa Clarita at 6 a.m. that Ventura County's burning 900 tons of old fruit trees, which apparently is the cause of the smoky conditions.

Valencia High Students Evacuated

Students at Valencia High School were evacuated from classrooms earlier today when a suspicious package was discovered in the Administration Building.
After investigation by the Sheriff’s Deputies, students were allowed to return to class around 1:30 p.m., and will be released at the regular time. The school’s Administration Building remained closed temporarily and Dickason Drive was  closed to traffic to keep access open for law enforcement vehicles.

Lockheed Player of the Week

Congratulations to J.J. DiLuigi of Canyon High School for being selected a "Player of the Week"
 
During the Canyon High game against Burroughs High, DiLuigi posted four touchdowns to give him 30 for the season.  J.J. rushed the ball 20 times for 109 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught four passes for 41 yards and a score which helped insure a 42-7 victory for the Cowboys.
