Lane Closures

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) may close the following lanes of I-5 and State Route 126 as part of the final stages of a $24-million project to improve the I-5/126 Interchange. 
Overnight, Sunday, November 6 through Wednesday, November 9 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. -- The eastbound State Route 126 connector to northbound I-5

Kings Defeat Predators 3-2

The Los Angeles Kings defeated the Nashville Predators in a shootout 3-2 Saturday.  The Kings had trailed for most of the game, making a comeback to tie the game and go to overtime then a shootout.  Tune into KHTS Friday November 11th at 5pm as the Kings play at Chicago.

Rate of Homicide Down in State

Incidents of homicide were down across the city and state between 2003 and 2004, according to figures from state Department of Justice.  In 2004, there were two homicides in the city of Santa Clarita compared with three in 2003, six in 2002 and three in 2001. Statewide the total number of homicides declined to 2,394 in 2004 from 2,402 in 2003, according to the Department of Justice’s Homicide in California 2004 report.

Project Set to Move The Old Road

The intersection of Magic Mountain Parkway and Interstate 5 will begin to take on a different look in the coming year, with the widening and relocation of The Old Road and a nearby gas station some 150 feet to the west. As part of a multi-agency traffic streamlining project under way at the intersection, freeway ramps are being installed and plans are being prepared to move a portion of The Old Road.

I-5 Lane Closures For Pavement Repairs 11/7-11/10

Caltrans will close the following lanes and ramps of the northbound and southbound Golden State Freeway (I-5) from Vista Del Lago (about two miles north of Castaic) to Frazier Park, as part of a one-year, 40-mile project to repair lanes on I-5 damaged from this year’s heavy rainstorms:

Western Park Dedicated

A dedication ceremony took place Thursday for the Tesoro Adobe Historical Park, which was officially recognized as a  historical landmark, as the home of early Western film actor Harry Carey....

Carey's son, Harry Carey, Jr., was on hand taking a tour of the room in which he was born in 1921.

Carey Jr. spoke to the crowd of nearly 100 people present for the dedication.

DADS Meeting Says "No" to Drugs

The Santa Clarita Community Services Division hosted a meeting at City Hall Wednesday to provide information about the Dads and Moms Against Drugs program, or DADS....

The program is designed to provide a forum for candid conversation about the dangers of drug abuse and the benefits of saying "no" to drugs. 

UCLA Football chaplain Kevin Jordan was on hand to provide his personal story and motivation as well.

Pitchess Detention Center Recognized For Clean-Air Composting Project
