A Piper aircraft sat on the shoulder of the Southbound lanes of Interstate 5 for hours Monday afternoon following an unplanned emergency landing....
The pilot said his engine quite while he was at about 2,500 feet above sea level, and obviously felt the freeway was the safest place for him to land.
He dipped the plan low to warn drivers that he was coming in for a landing.
Surprisingly, no one was injured on or outside the airplane, and the only damage to the airplane was a flat tire.
