    LANE CLOSURES FOR FINAL STAGES OF I-5/126 INTERCHANGE OCT. 16-22

    Caltrans may close the following lanes of I-5 and State Route 126 as part

    of the final stages of a $24-million project to improve the I-5/126

    Interchange.

    Schools Learn of Honors Eligibility

    Elementary schools in the Castaic, Newhall, Saugus and Sulphur Springs districts are on a list of schools potentially eligible to apply for California Distinguished School recognition for 2006. There are two in the Castaic Union Elementary School District: Castaic Elementary and Northlake Hills Elementary.

    Fines Wines at Loose Goose

    Organizers could not have asked for better weather Saturday as the Loose Goose Wine Festival kicked into high gear for the first of its two-day main event in Valencia.     Board Member: Campaign Letter Destorts Views

    A Newhall County Water District board member has alleged that a candidate’s views were misrepresented in a mailer from three of the candidate’s opponents. Board member Lynne Plambeck said that the letter  written on behalf of candidates B.J. Atkins, Barbara Dore and Maria Gutzeit  includes two potentially misleading statements about Plambeck’s lone ally on the water board, Joan Dunn.
