Residents Oppose Landfill Expansion Plan

Tuesday Rain Closures

As of 7:30 Tuesday morning, despite heavy rain and localized flooding, all main arteries through the Santa Clarita Valley are reportedly open, including Sierra Highway, Placerita Canyon Road, and Highway 126.

Bouquet Canyon Road is closed between Vasquez Canyon Road and Green Valley.

This situation is subject to change at any minute's notice, so stay tuned to KHTS for the latest updates.

 

LANE CLOSURES FOR I-5 CARPOOL LANE CONSTRUCTION

Caltrans will close the additional following lanes, ramps and connectors of the Golden State Freeway (I-5) as part of a $41.6-million project to construct carpool lanes, on northbound and southbound I-5 from State Route 118 to State Route 14.
 
Overnight Monday, October 17 to Tuesday, October 18; overnight

Flash Flood Watch in Effect!

 
Flash Flood Watch is in effect through Tuesday afternoon for the burn areas of Southwest California, including the following areas, Antelope Valley, Los Angeles County Mountains Excluding The Santa Monica Range, Los Angeles County Valleys, Santa Clarita Valley, Ventura County Coastal Valleys, Ventura County Interior Valleys and Ventura County Mountains.
 
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to Flash Flooding. 
 

Headlights in the Rain - ITS THE LAW!

Effective January 1, 2005, California Vehicle Code is requiring headlights to be turned on while driving in the rain.  Motorists are subject to being ticketed for violating this law.

Legendary Bassist Carol Kaye to Play at Symphonic Band and Jazz Concert

It's not often a living legend comes to visit, rarer still to see one perform. Attendees at the College of the Canyons Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble Fall Concert on Friday, Oct 28 will have that chance when celebrated bassist Carol Kaye accompanies College of the Canyons musicians.
 
Kaye, who literally wrote the book on playing the bass when she penned the first of many tutoring guides "How to Play the Electric Bass" in 1969, has taught hundreds of the world's top musical talents in her day, including other music legends Quincy Jones and Sting.

I-5 LANE CLOSURES FOR PAVEMENT REPAIRS 10/17 – 10/22

Caltrans will close the following lanes and ramps of the northbound and southbound Golden State Freeway (I-5) from Vista Del Lago (about two miles north of Castaic) to Frazier Park, as part of a one-year, 40-mile project to repair lanes on I-5 damaged from this year’s heavy rainstorms:



From 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, October 17:

One to three lanes of northbound and southbound I-5, intermittently, in various locations, from Frazier Park to Vista Del Lago.
