Mint Canyon Elementary To Hold Rededication Ceremony

Students, staff and community members will hold a rededication of Mint Canyon Elementary School on Thursday, November 3rd at 6:30 pm. This award winning school, located in the Sulphur Springs School District just completed a 1 ½ year modernization. The ceremony is planned as a celebration of the schools many achievements as well as the first modernization in 40 years.

Next Cross-Valley Link to Open in December

The long-awaited Cross Valley connector is one step closer to completion....

Most recently, the section of Golden Valley Road opened between the 14 Freeway and Sierra Highway. 

The newest section, the remaining portion of Golden Valley Road and the bridge over Soledad Canyon Road, is set to open early December.

Deputies Pleased With New ID System

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's station is one of the latest law enforcement agencies to purchase a new fingerprinting machine that has the latest in technology....

The new fingerprinting machine, at a cost of $29,000, captures and prints 1,000 pixels per inch, which is four times more information than the previously-used fingerprint card.

Board Candidate Calls for More Vocational Study

One of the top issues of the Hart district campaign is whether students are offered enough vocational and technical programs. Joe Messina, a candidate for the William S. Hart School District board, has pushed for this, saying there are no wood, automobile and metal shops, which he views as "basic fundamentals at every high school." Furthermore, there are no substantial performing arts programs, he said.

STAR Shoots Down Drugs

Nearly 90 Cedarcreek Elementary School fifth-graders were given their first taste of drug prevention Tuesday through the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Success Through Awareness and Resistance program. The program focuses on providing drug; gang and violence prevention education to students throughout Los Angeles County.

Kings win 3-1
