Large Portions of L.A. Lose Power

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A major power outage hit Los Angeles area on Monday, knocking out electricity to thousands of customers as officials scrambled to determine the cause and police declared a state of emergency.

"The city is on a tactical alert and obviously traffic is going to be impacted," Los Angeles Police spokesman Kevin Maiberger said.

Runners Bill Promoting Vocational Education Passes Legislature

(SACRAMENTO) --- Promoting career technical education as an important part of a student’s education, Senator George Runner’s (R-Antelope Valley) legislation has unanimously passed the Legislature. 

Senate Bill 875 would incorporate career technical education into the After School Education and Safety Program.
