State to Record Tailpipe Emissions

Sensors, video cameras would be used by inspectors to catch serious smog offenders in the SoCal region.

The program, perhaps the largest of its kind, would measure vehicles entering freeways in L.A., San Bernardino, Orange, & Riverside counties.

County Fire Copters Grounded

Much-needed repairs & few mechanics are a couple reasons given as to why four of the L.A. County Fire Department's seven units require frequent maintainence, while two are scheduled for replacement.

Fire officials say there's another problem involved...replacement parts are in short supply as manufacturer's try to meet the needs of the United States military fighting in Afghanistan & Iraq.

Chemical Bombs Explode Two Locations

One chemical reaction bomb was left at the Town Center Mall, near Johnny Rockets Restaurant...another at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore, corner of Magic Mountain Parkway & Valencia Boulevard.  Both exploded, according to the SCV Sheriff's Station.. Luckily no damage or injury resulted.  Deputies haven't been able to identify any suspects in the crimes.  The investigation's being handled by the Arson Explosives Detail.  If you have any information about these devices, or the person(s) involved, please call (661)255-1121.
