West Nile Spreads to Horses; 5 Cases Near SCV, 1 Dead!

West Nile virus has spread to the horse population, with one animal dead from the disease and four others testing positive within the past week near the Santa Clarita Valley, a spokesman for the California Department of Food and Agriculture said Friday.

Lane Closures Continue On SCV Freeways

Santa Clarita – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) MAY close the following lanes of  the Golden State Freeway (I-5) and State Route 126 – intermittently -- as part of the FINAL STAGES of a $24-million project to improve the I-5/126 Interchange:

Dodgers Lose To Astros 2-1

The Dodgers lost the first game of a three game series to the Houston Astos 2-1.  Andy Pettite outpitched Derek Lowe to get the win.  Tune in to Santa Clarita's only radio  station, KHTS AM-1220, at Saturday for game two.

Community Centers Set for End of Year

Construction continues on the Newhall Community Center, which is currently about 70% complete & on track to open by the end of the year.

The new facility will be approximately 18,000 square feet, more than double the size of the temporary location.

Castaic Fire Contained

A fire that broke out along Interstate 5 in the Castaic area is now contained, with no active flames. The fire broke out just after 5pm along the 5 Freeway near Templin Highway in Castaic. LA County Fire crews, in conjunction with the US Forest Service, worked to knock down the fire quickly, with approximately 15 total acres burned.

Disturbance at the Polynesian

L.A. County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic dispute at the Polynesian mobile home court Thursday evening.

The suspect involved in the incident's wanted for other charges.
