    Man Killed in Castaic Crash

    The unidentified victim's vehicle was discovered along the floor of a ravine more than 150 feet below Lake Hughes Road.

    The man died Sunday after he apparently swerved his car off a remote canyon road north of Castaic Lake, plunging hundreds of feet into a dense cluster of trees.  Reportedly the man was still breathing when a family discovered the crash.

    Woman Escapes Alleged Attacker

    A Saugus woman bashed her alleged attacker's head with a shovel as he tried to stuff her in the trunk of her own car Sunday evening in Saugus, enabling her to escape.

    The man,who might have raped the woman, fled on foot.  The suspect, described as an unshaven Hispanic man in a brown shirt & blue jeans, was last seen leaving the rural area in the 18400 block of Vasquez Canyon Road, near Bouquet Canyon Roads, about 7:20pm.
