    State of the City Luncheon

    It's time again for the annual STATE OF THE CITY LUNCHEON.  This year, the
    date is June 29, 2005 at 11:30 a.m. at the Hyatt Santa Clarita.  The Santa
    Clarita City Council cordially invites you to attend the event and learn
    about all of the great things happening in our City.  This year's theme,
    "Santa Clarita --A Rising Star!" captures the old Hollywood theme.

    City Wins Prestigious Award for Outstanding Partnership

    The City of Santa Clarita has been awarded the prestigious International City/County Management Association (ICMA) 2005 Program Excellence Award for Outstanding Partnerships: Public-Private Partnerships. The honor was given to the City for the Santa Clarita Golden Valley Project.

     

    City is 4th Safest In U.S.

    The City of Santa Clarita continues to grow, yet crimes per 1,000 persons are going down.


    Based on the crime statistics released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for 2003 and 2004, Santa Clarita remains one of the safest cities in the nation. In fact, Santa Clarita's ranking improved from the fifth to the fourth safest city, as compared with all cities in the United States.

    Dodgers Lose to White Sox 4-3

    In the third game of the series, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Chicago White Sox. Late in the game the Dodgers gave up the winning runs to the White Sox turning the 3-1 lead into a 4-3 loss. Tune in at 6:30pm tomorrow night when the Dodgers play the San Diego Padres in San Diego.

    Dodgers Lose to White Sox 5-3

    The Dodgers lost the second of their three game series against the White Sox 5-3.  Stay tuned for the final game of the series Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. for the pre-game.

    Lake Cleanup Could Take Up to 5 Years

    Oil cleanup at Pyramid Lake has cost millions of dollars so far and could continue for five years, an oil pipeline official said Friday. Although the lake is open for recreation, a section remains separated by booms, and some oil is still floating on the water.

    Much cleanup on the land has been accomplished, but much more remains.
    A 14-inch-diameter oil pipeline ruptured on March 23 when rain-saturated earth slid out from under it, sending some 143,000 gallons of crude rolling down the hillside, under Interstate 5 and into the Posey Canyon cove of Pyramid Lake.

    Major Roads Projects in Works for Castaic

    Two major road improvements are in the works for the Hasley Canyon-Castaic Junction area of the Santa Clarita Valley. 

    I-5 and 14 Freeway Construction Closures Continue!

    The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the  Antelope Valley Freeway (Route 14) in the following areas nightly from Tuesday, June 21, to Saturday, June 25:

    Dodgers Lose to White Sox 6-0

    In the first of a three game series in Chicago, the Dodgers lost to the White Sox 6-0.  Stay tuned to KHTS on Saturday as the Dodgers continue the series with the pre-game starting at 3:30 p.m.

    Fathers Day Catch at Dodger Stadium

    The Los Angeles Dodgers invite all fans to participate in a special Father’s Day event, as they host the second annual Father’s Day Catch at Dodger Stadium on Sunday, June 19. Fans are invited to play catch on the outfield grass from to Former Dodger great Ron Cey will be in attendance at the event, interacting with fans and signing autographs. This event is free of charge.
